Deviant UK were fantastic (again!) at Evoke on Sunday. I was slightly disappointed because the only merchandise was the cd and tshirt (that I already had) and a band poster, so I consoled myself by getting a poster coz I had to buy something! Then the poster was made 100 times better by Jay and BJ signing it. :-) It was cool to chat to Jay, plus Wayne took a photo of me and tragedylives with Jay and BJ so I was well happy!

On Monday I spent the last of my birthday money on a scaffold ear piercing. Forgot how uncomfortable ear piercings are to sleep on the first night, but it wasn't too bad last night so that's good.

Next I've got Gary Numan on Saturday and Barcelona in a couple of weeks. Plus somewhere I've got to find the money to buy my tickets to see a couple of films at Frightfest. I think they go on sale this Saturday too. Lots to look forward to!

Mixed feelings

I'm feeling really guilty at the moment coz I can't give a lift to friends of mine up to London for Gary Numan next Saturday. I'm driving up there but as it's Shepherds Bush, that means a multi storey car park and my car is lowered at the front and doesn't do well in multi storey car parks, on any kind of speed bumps or even on some kerbs. The underbody of the car scrapes badly and I don't want to damage the exhaust or anything. I've looked at some maps and can't see any other parking so I have to take my other half's car which is a teeny corsa, and can only really fit 2 people in the back comfortably. It must have been ages ago that Gary played Shepherds Bush, I'm so used to driving to Brixton now, where we practically have named on street parking spaces!

If anybody knows of any reliable, safe places where I'm pretty sure of getting an on street parking space around there on a Saturday eve let me know asap.

I'm also worried coz my pup is behaving in a pretty aggressive manner, trying to bite us when we get her down from the sofa. Thing is, she is going to be a big dog, and being quite a dominant personality anyway, we don't want her thinking she can jump all over the sofas (and us!), as that would be pretty intimidating to any guests we might have round. Generally she is much better behaved than she was and she is doing well at puppy classes but we can't have her being like that. Not sure what to do next. :-(

Trying to cheer myself up by remembering that it's Deviant UK tomorrow at Evoke!

My life seems to be exploding with things to do, places to be and an extreme lack of cash (and therefore melting of my credit card, lol!)

It's my youngest's birthday tomorrow, so lots of last minute things to do there. I've finished work for the summer but I've now got to sort through my stuff in the loft ready to transport to my new classroom in August. I've got a surprise 60th birthday party to go to on Friday, Evoke and DEVIANT UK on Sunday, Gary Numan the following Saturday and to top it all off my other half has managed to surprise me by booking a weekend away in August to Barcelona! Blimey! (Shocked isn't the word, I can't wait!) Course sensibly enough, he knows me fairly well, so has told me about it now so I've got time to pack. If I don't write a list I'll get all twitchy! Heehee!

And I'm still only half way through The Order of the Phoenix!

I don't want to go to work tomorrow! I have to: a) Read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix book again before I go to see the film hopefully on 18th July; and b) Read Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince book again before the new book comes out on 21st July.

Enjoyed another excellent Evoke yesterday, as part of my birthday celebrations. zoltan66 played my requests (thanks for Das Ich, Combichrist, Deviant UK, Sex Pistols, Nitzer Ebb and Thought Criminals), I wore my hair extensions (that I've had for about 6 years but haven't worn for at least 4 years!) and they went in really well, looked cool and no one recognised me, lol! Pete gave me a jug of a cocktail called Illusion which was yummy and I had many happy birthday wishes which was unexpected and heart warming.

The only annoying thing about the evening was that my lovely shiny new booties gave me an enormous blister on my left heel, practically the size of a 10p piece! It is mega sore today. Ah we suffer for looking good! :-)

Counting down the days til the next Evoke, and Deviant UK!!! As kelloidascope said I'll just be extending my birthday celebrations into next month! I almost feel like I'm commiting a blasphemy as I'm looking forward to Deviant UK more than I am Gary Numan!

I've got a small amount of birthday money left and I can't decide what to spend it on. I'm contemplating getting a piercing maybe, haven't had one for a while. (while I'm thinking about it mr_mandala can I have that link to the place you went to for your implants, please?)

Now I'm looking forward to next weekend's celebrations for vellouria and Ray. It's all good.

Upside, downside

Upside - I have shiny New Rock boots! Yay! Plus Deviant UK are confirmed for Evoke in July AND will have some new merchandise with them (money on standby!).

Downside - Brent Spiner can't attend London Film and Comic Con now coz they changed the date he can't make it any more. I really wanted to meet him. Bummer.

Question - What exactly is a desperado? (Just wondering)

Thanks to my lj friends for my wonderful birthday wishes! I had a relaxing day, not counting running around after Raven to get various things back she shouldn't be chewing! I went down town and managed to upgrade my mobile to a handset I actually wanted. My other half bought me some shiny new crimpers (all singing, all dancing ones, with loads of heat settings, so I can finally chuck away my old ones which are from the dark ages!), I had various cool dvds, jewellery, clothes and money.

I will be taking up residence at Angel Clothing on Saturday afternoon to spend my birthday cash! I have been waiting for ages to get a pair of New Rock boots with the springs in the soles, so fingers crossed they have my size and then I can show them off at Evoke on Sunday.

....Raven seems to be getting better. There still seems to be no particular cause for what happened to her. We are going to the vet tonight for another checkup and hopefully if all is well, her second set of jabs. Fingers crossed.

I'm knackered from early mornings and worrying! It's my birthday next week and people keep asking me if I've got any plans. Apart from Evoke on the Sunday, my plans for the actual day are: open presents, don't go to work, eat a takeaway, sleep, sleep and more sleep!

My gorgeous puppy is poorly with diarrhoea. (yuck) I had to take the day off work today so we could take her to the vet. He hopes it's nothing too serious but we've got a load of rehydration stuff to give her and special gentle-on-the-tummy food for the next 2 days. I'm currently living in fear of horrible viruses that dogs can get. Fingers crossed she gets better quickly, then I will relax. :-(

This is Raven. She's nearly 9 weeks old, and is fast becoming a sneaky chewer of the bottom step on our stairs! Little monkey. We love her but she's hard work! It's like having a baby again, when she sleeps, I collapse in a heap from all the running around to entertain her! Heehee! :-)

(Well I tried posting it on the 22nd but lj was being a pain and wouldn't let me post anything! Better late than never, lol.)

But anyway... I've managed to get a job! I'm pleased it's at a school I actually like and wanted to work at, as opposed to a job that I was just doing for the money. I'm sure along the way I'm bound to get hacked off about something, but at least I'll start off enthusiastic! :-D

I didn't tell very many people I had an interview this time coz I didn't want to jinx it! I had the interview yesterday, where I had to teach a 30 minute lesson, with the interview panel observing me, then have a 30 minute interview in the office. I was soooo nervous but it must've been ok. Apparently the Headteacher said she went back to the class at the end of the day and asked them, out of the 4 teachers they'd had that day, which one they liked the best and which lesson they preferred, and they said me and my lesson! Cool. I start in September.

Plus to make things even more exciting we picked up our puppy today! She is mega cute and like a fluffy toy at the moment. It's been amusing to watch the cats stare at her in disgust but they've got along reasonably well so far, so that's good. It's hard to imagine her fully grown coz she's so small now. I would post a photo but lj won't let me do that either! I might upload pics to my photobucket account later and just put a link in instead.

So all things considered I'm feeling upbeat and chipper! :-)

I found out on MySpace that a movie about Joe Strummer is going to be released on May 18th. I'd really love to see it. It's about his life, not just while he was in The Clash, but before and after as well. He deserves to be remembered and he was always such a hero of mine. Bet it won't get a general release though. I'm going to Google it and see if I can find out!

I didn't get the job I had an interview for the other week. I was a bit depressed about it coz I've always managed to get jobs I've interviewed for before this. Bummer. Still a few other interesting jobs have come up since, so I'll now be taking a rather large amount of my time filling in application forms! Soooo tedious but hopefully it'll be worth it.

In 3 weeks I will be getting a Rottweiler puppy! I can't wait! I had a rottweiler years ago and they are such gorgeous dogs providing they get the proper training. We are still deciding on names. It's got to be a fair vote, coz she will be a family dog and everyone has a say. We've narrowed it down to either Raven or Sky at the moment.

I went to the Debenhams Gala thing in Southsea this week as my daughter was playing steel pans there with her school, so I got in free. Then, unfortunately, I managed to spend a rather large amount of cash on foundation and a makeup brush. Lol! It is good foundation though. That's my excuse anyway!

Tomorrow I'm going to the 10th anniversary Resurgence. Should be a good one. Only just realised it carries on til midnight, but that's cool as Monday is a bank holiday. :-)

And I will be getting my ticket for Gary Numan soooon!!!!!!!!!!

Woohoo! I'm back!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Wayne for setting up the new pc for me. But it never ceases to amaze me, as I have a new version of windows, I have not only had to buy the latest anti virus software (goodbye £44), I now need a new printer as well coz my old one is not compatible.

But I'm sooooo happy to have a pc again! Yay!!!!!

My pc has decided to die on me. Curses to the fact I now have to come to the library (where I am now) to look at anything. Keep trying to go and switch the pc on at home, but the tower has gone so it won't do me any good! Am I sad, or what?! :-(

Now I've got to wait to find out if it's just the power unit in there that's gone or if it's the whole thing that's knackered and I need a completely new one. Oh well.

I'm feeling soooo lazy this week!

Mind you, I was going to be staying in all day today anyway coz I was supposed to be having some repairs done to drainpipes outside the house but the workmen didn't turn up. When I phoned the company they said someone had phoned last week to tell me it was cancelled. I said if they'd phoned they didn't leave a message, to which the reply was, well that woman was on holiday this week so they couldn't confirm that. Yeah right.

So I spent the day brushing up my talk for my interview, sorting out a load of my clothes for charity shop, threatening Virgin Media coz they haven't refunded the credit balance on my cancelled broadband account and searching for good credit card deals online. A day well spent!

Oh and I ate chocolate. Alot.

Had a fun time at role play last night. It was a short but sweet session, with me and tragedylives indulging in our vices. It was cool to catch up with my bestest bud. :-)

As role play finished early we popped round to zoltan66's place for a cup of tea and I took advantage of his cd collection! I've borrowed some Frontline Assembly, Mentallo and the Fixer, Das Ich, Nitzer Ebb, Combichrist and the Cruxshadows. Hope to have some time to listen to them over the next few days.

I'm going to have a day shopping in Southampton tomorrow. I don't have too much money to spend but I'm hoping to pick up a couple of bits and pieces that will give me that warm fuzzy feeling that only coming home from the shops (NOT Tesco!) with lots of carrier bags can do! Heehee!

Doctor Who...

...series 3 episode one was pretty cool. It still didn't have the impact of the first episode of the first series but good nonetheless. The new companion, Martha Jones fitted in well, being determined and adventurous in a more braniac kind of way, which I like, and having seen the trailer for the series, I'm also looking forward to some of the guest appearances.

A good start to my two weeks Easter holidays!
